On the fourth day of the SoftExpo 2010 on February 13, three seminars and four technical sessions were held at the venue of the expo at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.
The titles of the seminars were: i) A2I: Roadmap to Digital Bangladesh, organized by BASIS ii) Financial Inclusion Using Mobile Technology, organized by BASIS and Grameenphone and iii) Strategic position of Bangladesh in global demographic shift; Demand for IT skill workforce.
Titles of the Technical Sessions were: i) Ruby on Rails ii) Latest Technology Trends in EU Countries: Opportunities for IT Professionals iii) Enterprise PHP and iv) Facebook Application.
Mr. Anir Chowdhury, Policy Advisor, A2I Programme, Prime Minister’s Office presented the keynote paper. Prof. M. Shamsher Ali, Bangladesh Academy of Sciences and Vice Chancellor, South East University was the Chief Guest in the seminar.
Easy access to information for the common people and citizens of the country was emphasized in the seminar.
In the seminar on “Financial Inclusion Using Mobile Technology”, organized by BASIS and Grameenphone, Mr. Robert Smith, General Manager, Remittance and Payments Challenge Fund, Bangladesh Bank, Mr. Mamun Rashid, Country Manager, Citi Bank NA, Mr. Md. Ataul Masud, Managing Director, Dhaka Power Distribution Company Ltd. were present among others.
Mr. Fahim Mashroor, CEO, Bdjobs.com, presented keynote paper in the seminar on “Strategic position of Bangladesh in global demographic shift; Demand for IT skill workforce”. Professor Jamilur Reza Choudhury, Vice Chancellor, BRAC University, was the Chief Guest in the seminar. Dr. Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, Professor, Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Shahjalal University of Science & Technology, Sylhet and Rashed Khan Mennon, Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education were chief guests. Mr. A Towhid, Chairman, IBCS-Primax Software (Bangladesh) Limited chaired the session while Mr. Syed Mamnun Quader, Sr. Vice President, BASIS and Managing Director, Southtech Ltd. and Mr. Nahid Ahmad, Secretary General, BASIS were designated discussants in the seminar.
In the technical session on “Latest Technology Trends in EU Countries: Opportunities for IT Professionals” Mr. Frands Sharpe and Mr. Kurt Weiland from Denmark and Mr. M. Manzurur Rahman, CEO, ICT Alliance, were present.
Tomorrow on February 14, 2010, on the last day of the exposition, three seminars and two technical sessions will be organized at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre. The detail of the seminars and technical sessions are given below.
