Apple has announced its WorldScript technology. The introduction of WorldScript will transform the Mac into the first international PC through worldwide language support.
The new technology includes support for text input and display, as well as for incorporating language attributes, such as date and time formats, for most written languages.
With WorldScript, Apple provides built-in support to handle the complexities of non-Roman languages. This includes system-level support of two-byte languages such as Japanese, Chinese and Korean, and one-byte languages such as Arabic and Hebrew.
Integrating this enabling technology into System 7 allows the Mac to be quickly localized for any language. Integration of language will enable third party software developers to develop and localize applications for markets throughout the world.
