Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services (BASIS) organised a three-day workshop titled “Workshop for IT Business Leaders of Bangladesh: Leading Your Company to the Next Level” at BCDM, Rajendrapur, Gazipur. About forty senior executives of local IT companies participated in the workshop. Prof. Dr. Sougata Ray, Professor, Strategy and International Business, IIM, Calcutta and former head of Innovation, Infosys, India, conducted the workshop. The workshop emphasised on the doables to take Bangladesh IT industry to the next level to be a global player in the sector.
A roundtable on Digital Bangladesh: Government-Industry Collaboration was held at BICC, Agargaon, Dhaka. Architect Yeafesh Osman was the Chief Guest in the roundtable while Mr. Habibullah N Karim, President, BASIS chaired. Prof. Dr. Sougata Ray was the keynote speaker of the roundtable.
The State Minister for Science & ICT emphasised on effective collaboration between the industry and academia and encouraged the industry leader to have a big dream and work for achieving that vision. He also reiterated that Digital Bangladesh is a vision for improving lives of the common people of Bangladesh.
Mr. Habibullah N Karim gave importance to marketing and propagating the success stories of the industry and suggested not to look only to the government for the development of the industry including finance and business.
Mr. Anir Chowdhury, Adviser, A2I, Prime Minister’s Office also spoke in the meeting. Mr. Shameem Ahsan, Vice President, BASIS conducted the session and Mr. Nahid Ahmad, Secretary General, BASIS gave vote of thanks.
